Assignment 7: Green
Plan:
To capture the color green I plan to take photos of green pine trees, possibly with some snow on them so there is more going on.
My Photos:
I took my photos while I was in the Breckinridge over thanksgiving break. I really liked the photos that are more zoomed in on one or two branches with some snow in the background. I also really like the photos where there is snow on the branches and where you can see the texture on the branches because the photos were taken so close.
Edits:
I edited my photos in Lightroom so I could bring out the color green more. To edit my photos I cropped them to focus on the branches, darkened the shadows, lightened the highlights and whites, and upped the contrast and clarity so more detail could be seen. I also added light vignettes to most of the photos to lighten the green color
Printed Photo:
This is the photo that I printed. I printed this photo on canvas to help make the texture in the branches more visible and to help the lighter green colors pop out more. I matted this photo on black matte board to contrast with the green and to compliment the darkness of the branches. This photo stood out to me through how much texture and color the photo displays. I really like how there is a little bit of snow on this branch with a few brown needles and leaves. This helps the photo not over flow with the color green. I really look how everything in the background is blurred out and can kind of be made out. This helps bring a lot of focus to the branch in the foreground. I feel like this photo brings out a feeling of peace, especially through the color green because green a calming color. Also through the way the snow just lies on the needles of the branch, it makes it look like the snow is just relaxing on the tree. I think that this photo was very successful in capturing the color green through the pine tree needles on the branches in the foreground and in the background.
